Benjamin Arthur Meyer, 44, born in Pusan, South Korea, joined his big sister, Becky Meyer Soulia, in heaven on April 20, 2020. He leaves behind his brother, Eric Charles Meyer, and parents Steve and Gail Meyer, and grandparents Robert and Gwen Meyer and Charles and Norma McDade, all of Chattanooga. In addition, he loved so much his niece and nephew, Morgan and Evan Soulia, and brother-in-law Jon Soulia in Pittsburgh. Ben will be missed by many aunts, uncles, and cousins as well.
Ben was an interesting and intelligent fellow. He had just finished his computer engineering degree at UTC and had a thriving eBay business. He had a wealth of both trivial and important knowledge, and when he got into a disagreement he was usually correct (and always thought so). He read every type of nonfiction but was particularly interested in economics and history. His favorite sports were soccer and swimming, and he made many trips to Pennsylvania to see Morgan in swim meets and then to the University of Richmond to watch her swim there. He wanted Evan to be as much of a Star Wars fan as he was and spent weeks with him making phone cases for the whole family on his 3-D printer.
Ben made many long-lasting friends. Among his special ones were Tim Medina and all the rest of the gang that he met while living in Rockford, Illinois, and his classmates from Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences, class of 1994.
Cancer took him too soon, just as it did his sister, but we will cherish his memory forever!
A memorial service will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made in Ben's name to Good Shepard Lutheran Church, 822 Belvoir Ave., Chattanooga, TN 37412
