

She was employed as an Accounting Clerk with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Tennessee for 33 years.
She was involved with Give Me My Flowers Days, Out of Chattanooga's Closet Fashion Show, Chat & Chews, Shopping Bus Trips, and many Gospel Choir Trips to Mt. Moriah Church in Memphis, TN, and a piano student with Music Minds Piano Class. Ethel served many years as Secretary of the Bethel's Gospel Choir.
Ethel was preceded in death by parents, Forrest L. Hughes, Sr. and Bessie Mae Hughes; brothers, Austin, Forrest Leonard Jr., James Walter and Michael Hughes; and sister Margaret Ann McClendon.
Those Ethel leaves behind to cherish her memories include her son, Orville Hughes; daughters, Ladana (Tyrone) Carter and Tawana Kirk; grandchildren, Erick and Elliot Hughes and Tyreka Carter; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
A Visitation for Ethel will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2025 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Advantage Funeral & Cremation Services - Franklin Strickland Chapel, 1724 McCallie Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
The Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Steven Bearden officiating..
Burial will be at Chattanooga Memorial Park Cemetery, 501 Memorial Drive, Chattanooga, TN 37415.
