He was born March 23, 1951 in Athens, Tennessee. James has been a resident of Chattanooga for over 50 years where he retired from Shaw Industry after 17 years. He also started Jim's Striping in 1999, and it closed in 2018. James attended Chattanooga Church.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Amos and Gladys Collake.
Survivors include wife, Pamela Collake; sons, Emmanuel (Mandy) Collake, Michael (Teresa) Collake, Phillip (Alyssa) Collake, Garrett Collake, and Nathan Collake; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
