

Richard McAfee, a devoted and hard-working individual, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 17, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on March 23, 1936, in Chattanooga, Richard was known for his humorous, generous, kind-hearted, and thoughtful nature, as well as his faithfulness and wisdom.
Richard was born and raised in Chattanooga, where he grew up in East Lake. He graduated from Central High School and in 1955, married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Silver.
Throughout his career, Richard demonstrated an impressive work ethic beginning at age 19 at American National Bank and later working at Siskin Steel Supply. He then moved on to W.L. Jackson Water Heater Company and Mor-Flo Industries, ultimately retiring from American Water Heater Company after nearly 50 years of dedicated service. Even after retirement, his passion for work continued as he served as a manufacturer representative at Covenant Sales until he was 80 years old.
Richard was a devoted family man. He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Marjorie McAfee, his loving wife of over 50 years, Patricia McAfee, his great-grandson Cooper Meadows, his sisters Carol Deberry and Shirley Williams, and his brother Steve McAfee. He is survived by his children, Rick (Amy) McAfee, Phil (Susan) McAfee, Sharon (Glen) Meadows, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, life-long friends, Jim and Mona Skidmore as well as numerous other family members and friends.
In his personal life, Richard loved to work and travel, and cherished time spent with family and friends. He was a devoted man of faith, serving as a deacon and choir director for many years. In his later years, he attended Silverdale Baptist Church.

Richard McAfee will be remembered for his generous spirit, his devotion to family, and his unwavering faith.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm on Thursday, February 19, 2026 in the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 4 pm with Rev. Steve Shoemaker officiating.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Lakewood Memory Gardens East.
