Samuel Tatum McMurray, aged 91, of Chattanooga, Tennessee passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025. He was born on November 28, 1933 in Sewanee, TN. Samuel was a 1951 graduate of Central High School and later attended Middle Tennessee State University on a music scholarship; he played the trumpet.
Samuel proudly served his country when he joined the United States Navy in 1955; even though he got seasick. He got married in 1959 and had 2 sons.
He was employed as a Technician by AT&T for over 50 years.
Samuel was preceded in death by his parents, James B. and Helen McMurray; wife, Virginia McMurray; and brother Wayne McMurray.
Those Samuel leaves behind to cherish his precious memories are his dear sons, Samuel G. (Jessica) Sibold and Ward M. (Amy) Sibold; grandchildren, Mason Sibold, Isabella Sibold, Joe Hoang and Lizzy Hoang; nephews, Brian McMurray and Greg McMurray; other relatives and friends.
A Graveside service with Military Honors for Samuel will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 12:30 pm at Chattanooga National Cemetery, 1200 Bailey Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404.
