Christopher Joseph “Monge” Mongiardo, age 50. Christopher was born December 6, 1972, in Painesville, Ohio. He graduated from Eastlake High School in 1991, where he excelled in baseball and basketball. He graduated from Kent State University in 1996, where he was a member of the baseball team for four years.
Upon graduating, Chris began his coaching and managerial career in baseball. He had many successes with college and professional teams. His favorites were managing the Lakeland Community College Titans and Lake Erie Crushers because he was back home in Willowick and able to be with his young daughter.
Chris leaves behind his daughter, Isabella Johnson (Griffen) and grandsons, Giovanni and Donatello Johnson. Chris is the cherished son of Dominic Mongiardo and the late Ida (Hartsook) Mongiardo. His birth mother is Carol Hayward (Terry), siblings Lalainya, Lauren and Justin Hayward, and godparents are Nick and Marian Doljac. Special friends include Vania Yolanda Campa, Bonnie Weiss and Wendy Asher.
Family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, OH 44026.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at 12:30 PM at St. Mary Magdalene Church, 32114 Vine Street, Willowick, Ohio 44095. Please meet at the church. Interment will be private.
