Claire "Babe" Glass, 87, of Mayfield Heights, formerly of Chester Township and Collinwood, passed away April 21, 2014, at Montefiore in Beachwood. She was born December 26, 1926 in Cleveland. Babe was a longtime hairdresser and owner of Babe's Hairdressers in Mayfield Heights. Hair coloring was one of her specialties, and she was highly regarded in the industry. Babe was often sought after for color platform work at major trade shows and events in New York City and throughout the country. Babe's trademark was her lavender hair which was avant-garde for her time. In her second career, Babe worked in the Cuyahoga County Equal Employment Opportunity Department, a position she excelled in and was passionate about. She later retired from the County and remained an avid participant in civic affairs. Survivors are her daughter, Karla Pinato (Randall); son, Victor Gattozzi (Debby Tillie); sister in-law, Toni Argie; dear family, Jayne Shaffer ( Kevin ), Douglas Glass ( Darlene), Jefim Gattozzi, Robyn Gattozzi Kontra, Bryan Gattozzi, Kara Michael Pinato, Kristy Wood, Tiffany Leach, Dean Glass, Matthew and Brandon Kontra, Baby Gattozzi, Jack Wood IV, Abigail Leach; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Glass; husband, Michael Gattozzi; parents, Joseph and Theresa (nee DeMonaco) Argie; and brother, Kenneth Argie Sr. Family will received friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Schulte & Mahon-Murphy Funeral Home, 5252 Mayfield Rd., Lyndhurst. Rev. Martin Polito will be officiating. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at Holy Redeemer Church, 15712 Kipling Ave., Cleveland. Private interment will be at a later date in All Souls Cemetery in Chardon Township.
