Dorothy W. Ostanek, age 99, of Chesterland, Ohio, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, February 17, 2026. She was born on November 11, 1926, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Mary M. (Heller) and Oswald H. Weible. She married Anthony A. Ostanek on September 10,1949 and they remained together for 51 years. They had two children: Susan B. Ostanek of Venice, California, and Raymond A. Ostanek of Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
Dorothy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Cleveland State University with a Bachelor of Arts in Social Sciences on June 8, 1979. She was an avid reader of mystery & detective novels and delighted in identifying the villain within the first few chapters. She also enjoyed playing bridge and watching classic movies, and social dancing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Anthony, her sister Jeanne W. Schultz, and her brother Henry F. Weible. Survivors include her daughter Susan, her son Ray, and daughter-in-law Jan Elder, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Private burial will be held at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, Ohio. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
