Joan R. (Munn) Shaw of Kirtland passed from this life into eternity with Jesus Christ on April 6, 2018. Joan is survived by Jack, her husband for 62 years, her sister, Dolores Lentz, her brother, Michael Jack Kaufman, children, Wendy (Mark) Zimmerman, Jody (Laura) Shaw, and Robin (Sam) Dodd, and grandchildren: Kirsten, Anna, Erika (Kyle), Calvin, Kyle, Hannah, Elizabeth, Sarah, Rachel, and Kia.
Joan was born December 20, 1936. A member of St. Mark Lutheran Church for over 50 years, Joan served in many ministries, including Caring & Sharing, Stephen Ministry, youth ministry, mission trips to Haiti, choir & praise team, among others. Joan also served as the payroll clerk for the Kirtland Local Schools for many years.
Joan loved being outdoors in God’s creation with Jack and her family. While camping, hiking, canoeing, and traveling the world took her away from home, she also found much joy in gardening and in the birds in her own backyard. She loved being with her family, and together, she and Jack, had an annual “Cousins Camp” for their grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Helen Munn, and their first child, Baby Boy Shaw, stillborn.
Joan will be remembered for many good works, but we rejoice that she is in heaven because of God’s AMAZING GRACE.
“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9
The family will receive family and friends from 11am until 1pm on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at St. Mark Lutheran Church – 11900 Chillicothe Road in Chesterland, Ohio. A memorial service celebrating her life lived for Christ will follow at 1pm, followed by lunch in the fellowship hall. Donations may be made to the Caring & Sharing Ministry of St. Mark Lutheran Church.
