Rocky River, Ohio – John M. Rossiter, age 88, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. He was born on November 11, 1937, in Erie, Pennsylvania, the son of Anna Jean (Hanscom) and Matthew Charles Rossiter. John was a 1955 graduate of Mayfield High School and attended Marietta College. He served in the United States Army. On December 18, 1965, he married Teresa "Terry" A. Marcotrigiano. They were longtime residents of Chesterland and active members of St. Anselm Catholic Church.
John worked as an electrician and was a proud member of IBEW Local 38, working for Patrick Media Group of Cleveland, for over thirty years before retiring in 2000.
The Les Cheneaux Islands of Lake Huron held a special place in John's heart. For decades, he and Terry spent their summers at their cottage on Coryell Island and the family property on LaSalle Island. These northern Michigan islands were far more than a vacation destination—they were where John found his most profound expression. Whether tinkering with the cottage, capturing the islands' beauty through his camera lens, or sailing their waters, John's love for Les Cheneaux shaped who he was, and the haven he created there remains a cherished gift to his descendants.
John was preceded in death by his parents and by his beloved wife of forty-seven years, Terry Rossiter. He is survived by his three sons, Timothy J. Rossiter of Lakewood, Ohio, Scott M. Rossiter of Rocky River, Ohio, and Jon R. (Marie) Rossiter of Hamilton, Ohio; his brother, Charles (Karen) Rossiter of Shaker Heights, Ohio; and four grandchildren, Cailyn, Erin, Noam, and Marco.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 12969 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio, with Father Christopher Cox officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 27th, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home, 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio, 44026. In honor of Terry’s career as a teacher, memorial contributions may be made to the Geauga County Retired Teachers Association. Share a fond memory or condolence at www.gattozziandson.com
