Mary Jane Poley

Mary Jane Poley, 94, of Chardon, formerly Chester Township, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 18, 2024. Mary Jane was the daughter of the late Carl and Frances (nee Dombrowski) Zowasky. She was the beloved wife of 49 years to the late Donald F. Poley (deceased, 2005).

She was the loving mother of Nan-Marie (Tom) Graham, Scott (deceased), Chris, Lynn (Joe) Bartol, and Mark (Sharon McLain; children Garrett and Robyn); sister of Ruth Hassing (deceased), Carl Zowasky (deceased) (June), and Betsy Lauer (deceased).

Mary Jane passionately owned her own her antique doll business as a dealer over 55 years and was lovingly referred to as the “Doll Lady.” She was a devoted parishioner of St. Anselm Catholic Church since 1965. Mary Jane was always positive, upbeat, and described her life as wonderful. Her family and friends were blessed to have Mary Jane in their lives and will miss her dearly.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the Thistle House of Chardon and their exceptional care team for all their love and patience during the last year and a half of Mary Jane’s life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place for close family and friends at St. Anselm Catholic Church located at 12969 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio 44026 at 9:30am. Further time of fellowship will follow Mass at Gattozzi and Son Funeral Home located at 12524 Chillicothe Road, Chesterland, Ohio 44026.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the East Campus Team of Hospice of the Western Reserve or David Simpson Hospice House who cared for Mary Jane in her final moments.
