Matthew Liptensky, age 45, of Cleveland Heights, OH, went to be with Jesus surrounded by his family on July 31, 2019. Matthew loved life and would light up a room with his great smile and charm always wanting to help straight from his heart. Matthew was a brilliant mental health counselor for The Center for Effective Living and devoted his whole life to helping others.
Matthew grew up in Newbury, OH and later moved to Chesterland, OH where he graduated from West Geauga High School in 1992. He earned his Bachelors Degree from Ohio University, where he was Vice President of his fraternity, Phi Kappa Tau. He then earned his Master’s Degrees from John Carroll University. He worked in psychiatric hospitals, outpatient mental health settings as well as in the forensic mental health field. Matthew was a passionate writer and was currently working on his psychological thriller novels. Matthew loved sports and was an outstanding basketball and baseball player his entire life from time he could even hold a ball. One of his greatest loves was the Cleveland Indians and Browns and going to those games with his brother. Matthew’s favorite things to do were spending time with his step grandchildren, playing football with his German Shepherd Lilly (and getting puppy hugs from her each day when he got home), the annual Guinness Bowl Fantasy Football Draft (Merry Christmas), driving around in his Jeep and going each year to the Geauga County Fair with his mom and brother. Matthew’s favorite hobby was collecting baseball hats from not just his favorite team of the Indians but from all teams of all sports.
Matthew is, and always will be our most beautiful blessing from God. He truly brought love and joy everywhere he went and touched the lives of everyone he met. Matthew loved the Lord and we praise Jesus for his life.
