Thomas Charles Shima, age 84, of Chesterland. Tom was a huge sports enthusiast, he pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies Carolina League for three years before serving in the Army as an Honor Guard at Arlington National Cemetery. Survivors are his wife of 57 years Patricia (nee Rutherford); children David (Carolina) and Leslie Shima; Opa to Dylan, Lola, Santiago, Jones, and Rafael; godfather of Patti Shima-Ange; uncle, cousin, and friend to many. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Anna Mae Shima; and siblings George, Janet Sycz, and Jim. Services to be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Tom’s name may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org
