

William J. O'Brien, a resident of Russell Twp. for 40 years, formerly of Eastlake, died Feb. 17, 2016 at U.H. Seidman Cancer Center in Cleveland. He was born September 19, 1949, in Cleveland. William was a devoted father and grandfather. He served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was active with 40 Days of Life, the Knights of Columbus, and the Pre-Cana Team, all at the Church of Saint Helen in Newbury Twp. He was Electrician with various electrical contractors in Greater Cleveland for 39 years, retiring in 2008. Survivors are his wife, Clare G. O'Brien (nee Misch), whom he married at St. Justin Martyr Church on December 11, 1971; children, Heather (Jeremy) Kalamarides, William J., Mary (Michael) Peck, Liz (Christopher) Cross, Theresa (Eric) Charmley, Tom (Samantha), and John P.; grandchildren, Andrew, Sophia, Christopher and Luna Kalamarides; Genevieve, Michael, Bernadette, Margaret, Vincent, and Anne Peck; Madeline, and Aiden Cross; Grace, Eric, Mary Katherine, and William Charmley; Caleb, Ronan, and Eamon O'Brien; siblings, Mary Anne, Sr. Kathryn OSU, Eileen (Joseph) Pappalardo, Michael (Carol), and Patrick; and sister-in-law Joyce O'Brien. He was preceded in death by his brother, Timothy. Family will receive friends 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 21, 2016 at Schulte and Mahon-Murphy Funeral Home, 5252 Mayfield Rd., Lyndhurst and at 9:30 a.m. until time of Mass at 11 a.m., Monday, Feb. 22, 2016 at Church of Saint Helen, 12060 Kinsman Rd., Newbury Twp.
