Adele Helen Hollesen, 81 passed peacefully in her home May 23rd, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. A lifelong Chicago resident, she was born to Helen and Louis Burns and grew up in the Bucktown neighborhood before moving to Lincoln Square where she attended Chappell Elementary School and Amundsen High School with her siblings Kenneth, Katherine (Joe) Kalble, and Alice (RJ) Wheeler. She met the love of her life, Sivert Hollesen at the Riverview Roller Rink. They were married in 1951 and resided in Lakeview until his death in 2008. She worked for the Hartford Insurance Company in the Wrigley Building until she “retired” in 1955 to be a Mom. She was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church for over 50 years, serving the Lord at Cuyler Covenant with her many friends, the “Kitchen Ladies”, at bake sales, the annual picnic, and many potluck dinners. She was a fabulous cook who also loved to bake and cake decorating with her sister Alice. She enjoyed gardening, ethnic food, "Taste of Chicago", late night movies, the many trips with her daughter Adele and Grandsons, walking throughout the neighborhood to “see all the changes”, but it was children and babies that would really make her smile. The Walnut Room at Christmas was a favorite special time for her. She is survived by her four children Carol Oldham, Adele (Larry) Auerbach, Hollie Hollesen (Vickie Chaney), and Sivert (Nancy) Hollesen, her grandsons Sivert “Teddy” (Shannon) Hollesen, Benjamin, Daniel, and Zachary Auerbach, her great grandson Paxton Hollesen, many nieces and nephews, and her wonderful caretakers Edna, Joyce, and especially Patricia “Buddy” who cared for her since 2005. She is missed already, but blessed to be with the Lord and all of her many friends. May she now rest in eternal peace. Visitation Friday, 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Drake & Son Funeral Home, 5303 N. Western Ave., Chicago where services will be held Saturday, 11 a.m. Interment Rosehill Cemetery.
