

It is with tremendous sadness that we announce that Alvaro H. Monterroso, a beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away unexpectedly on November 5, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family. He was seventy-two years old. Born to Hermogenes Monterroso and Maria Graciela Monterroso. He is survived by his wife, Ana S. Monterroso and their children, Ana C. Monterroso-Carey & Steven Carey, Alexander I. Monterroso & Yahaira Monterroso, Sylvia Monterroso and Jacqueline Monterroso and their grandchildren McKenzie J. Carey, Madison Esquivel, Lucas Monterroso, Gabriel Monterroso, & Gabriela Carey. He was a protective brother to Jorge Monterroso, Maria Monterroso-Enriquez, Irma Monterroso de Diaz, Cenia Monterroso-Mejia, Mayra Monterroso, Miguel Monterroso and his late sister Maria Luisa Castillo. He was a father figure to all of his nieces and nephews who he loved as his own children.
He dedicated his life to working for Catholic Charities, a non-profit organization where he was a case-aide for many years. He ended his career working in the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) office assisting the elderly.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 4 - 8 p.m. at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 W. Belmont, Chicago, IL 60634. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family for the unexpected expenses.
