Barbara Jean Gallagher

Gallagher, Barbara Jean (nee Yonkers) Beloved wife of 31 years to John T. Gallagher; mother of Michael and John; stepmother to Mark, Jeanmarie, Gail, Jill, Jane, and Kathleen; sister-in-law, Denise Yonkers. Connoisseur of Hearts - and especially "shooting the moon", luckiest gambler at the slots, proud pet owner of Misty, Misty, Lady, Brandie, and Brandie. Barbara's first meaningful job in Chicago was at Handschy Ink. Then, Guaranteed Trust Life and finally a long tenure at Ferndell's Restaurant, where many patrons will remember her larger than life smile and her shock of red hair. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Parisie; brother, John Yonkers; brother, Bill Yonkers and his wife, Arvilla and sister, Rose Burton. Her personality was outshone only by her ability to "cut to the chase" in any conversation. To say she was opinionated might be an understatement. She was a passionate woman who loved her pets, children, step-children, 16 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and her husband above all. She is missed. In lieu of flowers, prayers and charitable contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Association , American Cancer Society or Resurrection Hospital.
