She was a strong, kind, gentle, and caring woman whose warmth touched those who knew her. To her daughter, she was not only my mother but also her greatest source of love and strength.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Hoover Sr. and Mary Jane Hoover (nee Agnicheck), her brother, Herbert Hoover Jr., and her loving aunt, Betty Baker Gleason. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Cynthia Flynn.
She also leaves behind cherished friends and neighbors. In particular, her next-door neighbors of more than 50 years shared a bond of friendship, care, and constancy that meant so much to her throughout her life.
Though our family circle has grown smaller over time, Betty’s legacy of strength, kindness, and compassion will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew her.
A visitation to celebrate Betty’s life will be held on Friday, September 12, from 10 AM to 1 PM at Malec & Sons Funeral Home 6000 N Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646. Interment immediately following at Elmwood Cemetery.
