

Brett Lonis, born February 18, 1990, passed away August 5, 2024. Brett was a creative and passionate individual who brought beauty and joy into the lives of those around him through his artistic talents and culinary expertise.
From a young age, Brett's creativity shone brightly. He was skilled in both wood and metalwork, producing pieces that were as unique as they were intricate. During high school, he was an active member of the Albany Park Theater Group, showcasing his talent and dedication to the performing arts.
A competitive spirit, Brett enjoyed challenging friends to card games like Yu-Gi-Oh at his favorite game shop, Elite, as well as immersing himself in video and board games. His playful nature and sharp, sarcastic sense of humor made every game night memorable.
Brett's love for the culinary arts led him to culinary school, and he spent his early 20s working at Hutch and Weathermark, where his talent for creating luxurious and delicious dining experiences flourished. "Family dinner" at Brett's was always a special occasion, with guests relishing his culinary masterpieces.
Brett is survived by his loving mother, Candia; his devoted sister, Amanda; and his two cherished cats, Pumpkin and Deuce. He is preceded by his father, Thomas, in death (2018). He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
Brett's inquisitive nature, vibrant spirit, and unforgettable sense of humor will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, August 9th from 3-7pm, at Drake and Son Funeral Home, 5303 North Western Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Anti-Cruelty Society or PAWS in Brett's memory.
