Camilla was a foodie of unequal measure who loved to cook, combine recipes, make up her own recipes, and feed people. She also enjoyed creating music and art. She was a pianist, a cellist, and a fiber artist who created amazing hand-felted hats and tunics that she sold at local artisan fairs. She was a devout Bahai and was a proud and tireless member of the Chicago Spiritual Assembly. She was a fierce supporter of recycling, community outreach, National Public Radio and animal rescue…especially when it came to tabby cats.
Camilla was the loving mother to Frances (Doug) Krueger-Jackson and Alaina Carroll; beloved “Grammie” to Colin (Dana) Carroll and Katie (Jordan) Vantrease, she was the devoted “Great-Grammie” to Aiden and Jaxon, loving aunt to Matthew Stern, Suzie Patinkin, Alan Meyer, and Melissa Meyer. She was preceded in death by her parents, her former husband and father of her children Charles Krueger, and her siblings Joetta Meyer, Kathryn Stern and Ronald Lyon.
Friends and family will gather for a graveside service for Camilla that will be held at 1pm on Thursday, October 26th, 2023 at Graceland Cemetery, 4001 North Clark Street, Chicago, Illinois 60613.
