To Charlie’s parents and family - may you be comforted with the love that surrounds you. I love you and continue to pray in the aftermath to honor his memory and keeps his spirit alive. He’ll be remembered forever. His bravery and love created a ripple effect. He was a true angel on earth.

Charlie, Melissa and Tim truly brightened the hallways at Lurie, for other families, too. Parents and other patients would smile when they saw Charlie, bringing warmth to others in the most difficult of times. Charlie was our daughter’s big friend at the hospital. Rose looked up to Charlie and learned some tricks (pointing, for one) from him. She liked watching what big Charlie was up to, and they got to play a couple times together, too. We will always remember Charlie as Roses friend. Bless your family, we are so sorry for your loss.

He graced us with his smile,
On an otherwise sad and solemn day.
In his smiling mother’s arms, his eyes gleaming, Innocent of all the turmoil that day brought. 
He blew us a kiss, smiled at us and others, and we couldn’t help but smile back. And when we did, his eyes shone even brighter, because he knew he had brought us happiness that day, and that was Charlie, loving and innocent, 
He graced us with his smile.

What a privilege it was to love Charlie. Through every step of his fight with HLH, he was always smiling, laughing, hugging, and bringing joy to everyone around him. He was so clearly the product of Tim and Melissa—spreading love, kindness, and positivity to all, and demonstrating true strength through the hardest times.

They raised an incredible, selfless, and beautiful human who taught us all to love fully and to appreciate every moment, big or small. I’ll never forget the first time I met Charlie in the hospital—he ran right up to me to show me his toys, then smiled and hugged me. It’s so rare for any child his age to do that with a stranger, especially one sick in the hospital facing the biggest, scariest challenges. But this was just who Charlie was, always strong with endless love for everyone, even those he’d just met.

The entire 17th floor will be forever impacted by Charlie’s light, his love, and by his amazing parents who we love so much. You will always be in our hearts and continue to inspire us every day.💙🥨🤍

I had the privilege of caring for Charlie & family at the start of my career at Lurie Children’s. Charlie brought light to my day and made working a joy. He will forever be missed on LC17

Charlie was such a light to every person who was fortunate enough to even interact with him. His contagious smile and scrunchies will not be forgotten. Sending all my love to one of the sweetest families ever.

We had the pleasure of watching Charlie grow through pictures, videos and updates from his adoring Aunt Annie. His sweet smile and belly laugh were absolutely infectious and his spirit was unmatched. This loss is so heartbreaking. Our love and prayers go out to your family. Rest in peace, sweet angel.

Charlie was such a light. I remember this day a few months back. We had Tim, Melissa, and Charlie (plus some other friends) over for a barbecue and Charlie’s laughter lit up the house. He gave me the biggest hug this day while he watched Bluey and gave all of his table scraps to Keeley.  Words can’t describe the magnitude of this loss. Love you Tim and Melissa. ❤️ We were all so lucky to know Charlie and he was so loved, especially by his amazing parents. ❤️

The boys and I asked our guardian angels to pray for our little buddy Charlie every night.  We prayed for his health and we prayed for his parents. We loved Charlie and would often bump into him with Tim and Melissa, who loved to take him on neighborhood walks or to the park to roll around in the grass on lazy, sunny afternoons.  We had so much hope that he would survive this and it would just be a blip in his timeline. We are only comforted in knowing that he is an Angel with God in heaven now. We know he is surrounded by the divine Love and Light of the Lord and that now, he watches over all of us. We will miss growing up together. 
We love you little buddy.

Charlie was such a bright and beautiful light, with the most adoring, loving, and strong parents I know. We are so sorry for this loss.  We will forever keep his memory alive,  carry, support, and wrap you up in our love.

I am so incredibly heartbroken to hear of Charlie’s passing. He was such a sweet, happy, and brave boy with a smile that lit up the room.
