Edward Allan Grude

He received his schooling at Shabbona Grade School, Ottawa Township High School and Northwestern University in Evanston Il. Throughout his school years, Ed played trumpet in the school bands. As a senior at Ottawa Township High School, he was the recipient of the Rotary's Arion Award as Outstanding Senior Band member. He enjoyed going to concerts and plays, especially enjoying the music of Stan Kenton and Maynard Ferguson.

Ed’s career in insurance started at LOF, followed by Travelers and then CNA where he met his future wife, Karen Ann Christiansen in 1962. Ed and Karen were married in 1965.

Ed was always a kind, considerate and caring husband, son and friend. He was a prolific letter writer, connecting with relatives and friends throughout the U.S and overseas.

Ed is survived by his wife Karen and was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen. Burial will be from 2 to 2:30 p.m. Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery, 1601 Ottawa Ave, Ottawa, IL 61350.
