It is with great sadness that we must advise all of the passing of Elizabeth Bricio Beauchamp on March 30, 2016 after a brief illness. She is survived by her step-son, Damian Rodriguez and sister, Louise McClellan and brothers, Salvador and Edward Bricio and an extended family. Elizabeth or Betty as she was known to friends and family was born in Detroit, MI on October 11, 1929. She was the eldest daughter in a family of four children by Joseph Bricio and Maria Luisa Romero. The family had strong roots and many family members in Mexico. Betty and her siblings spent many days and weeks of their development years in Mexico. As such, Betty developed a strong bilingual skill which was to serve her well throughout her life.
A graduate of the Wayne County High School in 1944 and an accomplished pianist, she was a pioneer as a woman seeking a business career. She excelled in secretarial skills and began her working life at Chrysler Corporation doing translation work for their business in Latin America in 1947. She married Juan Z. R. Beauchamp in September of 1949 helping to raise and care for three children. During this period she successfully completed a four year business degree at Chicago’s Roosevelt University. She continued her business pursuits accomplishing many responsible and executive positions at Zenith Radio Corporation of Glenview, IL retiring after 25 years of service. After 35 years of marriage, her husband passed away in 1984.
Rather than dwelling on her loss Betty was encouraged to pursue many of her interests including her bilingual skills. She was successful in her efforts and provided many years of direct translation services to the Cook County Court System both for defendants and plaintiffs during actual litigation. Betty retired from these services on December 31, 2015 completing an active and challenging business career. Her memorial mass will be held at St. Clement Parish, 642 W. Deming, Chicago, IL 60614 on May 19, 2016 at 11:00 to celebrate the life of an elegant woman who lived her life to the fullest and whose memory will be cherished by all of her friends and family.
