Thinking of Ellen today. I remember all the times we were together either for trip to Chicago, visits Ellen and Don made to visit us or at our daughter and son’s wedding.   We had so many laughs and wonderful discussions.  Ellen took such a genuine interest in what we and our kids were doing.  I miss her but can still visualize us having those family talks.

My dearest lifelong friend, Ellen, went home to heaven on January 1, 2022. My life is forever blessed because of this wonderful 54-year true friendship. Ellen and I were introduced by Lauren, her younger sister who was friends with my younger sister, Fuji at Our Lady of Lourdes School. The Fifields lived across the alley from the Ugartes. Lauren asked me to come over to ask if she could spend the night. Ellen answered the door, we spoke in her hallway for 3 hours and we instantly became friends. We were only 12 years old. We have been through life’s ups and downs, birthdays, weddings, parties, celebrations of life, graduations and so much more. Ellen, you will live in my heart forever. Thank you for so many blessings and lifetime of a beautiful friendship. May you rest in eternal peace.  🌷 🌈  💕

Ellen's mom, Aunt Pat, was my godmother and I felt forever a part of the Fifield family.  We had so many kids in both of our families and all of us cousins shared in the love that our moms encircled us with.  I was so glad to have been able to attend Ellen and Don's wedding just before I left for the west coast.  We haven't been all together in one place much as we got older but I enjoyed the times since that I could visit with Ellen and catch up.  I'm sending love to all my cousins at this difficult time and always.

Dear Don,  We are so saddened by Ellen's death.  We have so many great memories of our times together through the last 40 years.  We shared so many stories and even more laughs.  Ellen was masterful at getting you to open up about issues, problems or thoughts that you wouldn't usually be willing to talk about.  She had an uncanny ability to observe and know things without them being said.  And, her memory was unmatched.  She could remember people and things we had talked about 2 or 3 years after the discussion and would want an update!   Ellen was so thoughtful and generous.  We never came to stay with you or you come to visit us that Ellen didn't have a goodie bag of gifts with a Chicago theme--CUBs paraphilia, Garrett's popcorn, Giordano's pizza, Chicago mug or keychain, etc.  Our memories of Ellen will continue to live with us.
Ellen fought the fight with cancer with determination, strength, inspiration, positivity and courage.  We will miss her presence but not her being.  Love, Jolene and Joel

Noel and I were so sad to hear the news of Ellen's passing. The entire Fifield and Krubsack families are in our hearts and thoughts. Ellen was such a kind, gentle and loving person. We hope she is enjoying a wonderful reunion with Aunt Pat and her siblings in heaven. Sending love to all of you during this sad time and hope you can find peace and healing in the days ahead.

As the third daughter of Virginia Amandes, who was the little sister of Ellen's mother, Patricia, I spent many good times with my first cousins when we were kids growing up in Chicago, and even after my family moved up north to Richmond, Ill.  We have old home movies that captured us all playing together back in those days, even some later on, at the Amandes Family Reunion in 1987, photos of which are included in the photo montage on this site. Sadly, as grown ups, Ellen and I had little contact, especially since I've lived in Los Angeles for the last 47 years, but those sweet memories of childhood remain. 

My sympathies and condolences to Ellen's husband, Don, and to all my other Fifield cousins... so very sorry for the loss of your dear sister, Ellen.

Dear Don, and the Fifield and Krubsack Families,

I was so sorry to hear about Ellen's passing. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

Ellen was a gem of a gal--beautiful inside and out.  To me, she will always be the SGHS '74 "prom queen," --she never lost the beautiful qualities that earned her that honor in high school. Then come my years of memories of many fun nights at Pumping Company--when life was much more carefree for all of us.  I can still see Ellen sitting there having a good time with all of her friends, buying me a drink often. I will always remember her with that smile.

May God bless all of you with His peace and beautiful memories of Ellen. She will be missed by those of us who knew her when.





So many great memories I can share, but I will choose one. I can't remember how old I was but everytime I came over I would have you play "who you going to call ghostbusters" it didnt matter if it was Halloween or not we would dance to it. I couldnt wait for our sleepovers. I know where I get the moves from. Till this day I play it for my kids every Halloween.  A very close angel said it's all about making memories and I know you have blessed many with them.

 Aunt Ellen, your memory will be forever in my heart and you will be deeply missed. You can rest now with the five angels above....

My thoughts and prayers are with Don, his family, Ellen’s family and her many friends during this most difficult time.  Ellen was a great lady, we’ve known each other for many, many years and shared lasting memories from St. Gregory’s and beyond. I am so happy that I got to see her and spend a little time with her recently. I pray Don, that you find peace in the many wonderful memories of your beloved Ellen. Ellen will be missed by all Don's relatives in Wisconsin especially my family. We have many fond memories of the holidays they would share with us.  Jim and I had fun trips we took with them. Now Jim and Ellen can get together in heaven.
