Emerenciana Tamayo

Mere was born on October 8, 1935 in Ojo Seco, Guanajuato,México, daughter of Eulogio Tamayo y Juana Leon.

Mere married Carlos Rojas on July 1951 in Ojo Seco. She remained his devoted and loving wife until his passing in September 1968. Their beautiful marriage was blessed with eight wonderful children and, in time, many grandchildren. Although their life together was cut short, Mere always expressed that Carlos was the love of her life.

Mere was well known for her loving and caring nature. She was always checking in on her siblings, and her many nieces and nephews. Her greatest joy was gathering her family for arrachera cookouts at the park. She especially loved cooking for them, preparing menudo, pancakes, tamales, and flour tortillas entirely from scratch.

Remaining to cherish Mere’s memory are her children: Reynalda, Rafael (Mary), Raquel (Alvaro), Elia (Rigo), Eloy (Ana), Dario (Celia), Elva (Lino), and Efrain (Sandra); her sister, Aurelia, along with many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, located at 6000 North Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL, 60646, on January15, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

The Funeral Service will take place at St. Nicholas Catholic Church (St. John XXIII Parish), 806 Ridge Ave, Evanston, IL 60202, on January 16, 2026, starting at 10:00 am.

Entombment will be held at Ridgewood Memorial Park, 9900 N Milwaukee Ave, Des Plaines, IL 60016.

Emerenciana Tamayo León, de 90 años, de Chicago, Illinois, falleció el 7 de enero, rodeada del amor de su familia.

Mere nació el 8 de octubre de 1935 en Ojo Seco, Guanajuato, México, hija de Eulogio Tamayo y Juana León.

Mere se casó con Carlos Rojas en julio de 1951 en Ojo Seco. Permaneció como su esposa devota y amorosa hasta su fallecimiento en septiembre de 1968. Su hermoso matrimonio fue bendecido con ocho maravillosos hijos y, con el tiempo, muchos nietos. Aunque su vida juntos fue interrumpida prematuramente, Mere siempre expresó que Carlos fue el amor de su vida.

Mere era muy conocida por su carácter amoroso y atento. Siempre estaba al pendiente de sus hermanos y de sus numerosos sobrinos y sobrinas. Su mayor felicidad consistía en reunir a toda su familia en el parque para disfrutar juntos de una arrachera asada. Disfrutaba especialmente cocinar para ellos, preparando menudo, pancakes, tamales y tortillas de harina completamente hecha a mano.

Le sobreviven para atesorar su memoria sus hijos: Reynalda, Rafael (Mary), Raquel (Álvaro), Elia (Rigo), Eloy (Ana), Darío (Celia), Elva (Lino) y Efraín (Sandra); y su hermana, Aurelia, además de muchos nietos, bisnietos, y tataranietos, así como numerosos sobrinos y sobrinas.

El velatorio se llevará a cabo en la Funeraria Malec & Sons, ubicada en 6000 North Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646, el 15 de enero de 2026, de 16:00 a 20:00 h.

El servicio fúnebre se llevará a cabo en la Iglesia Católica de San Nicolás (Parroquia de San Juan XXIII), en 806 Ridge Ave, Evanston, IL 60202, el 16 de enero de 2026, a partir de las 10:00 h.

El entierro se llevará a cabo en el Parque Memorial Ridgewood, en 9900 N Milwaukee Ave, Des Plaines, IL 60016.
