I was scared for reality to set in. That I will not have that chance to give you a hug, hear a joke or have that shot we talked about. You were a very good friend to me. It was always a joy to be around you. Will cherish the memories I had with you.  It was hard to say good bye. You will be miss but never be forgotten. May you rest in peace my beloved Friend.

R.I.P Joel.  You were always the biggest sweethearts to all the girls in high school lol.  I'll always remember you.  I know I didn't know you as much as most of our fellow classmates did, but I'll always remember you dude.  You kept me calm through a lot of "stuff".  You were THAT dude.  Man, I'm speechless.  I'll see you soon dude.  I'll have the deck of card ready.  Hopefully by then you'll be a good spades player.

Growing up with you, always had good memories. Glad I spent time with you in Vegas. You will be missed you always made me laugh and feel proud for what I did. Your brother from Dub and a blood brother from heart. I will miss you watch over us and we will meet again some day. Brother your a definition of a true friend I love you bro.

Been thinking about Joel all week and... Well he was just a tremendous kid. I really connected with him because of my offer to help him lose weight and his willingness and determination to follow through with the plan we put together. I saw him play goalie in floor hockey in the first years when I got to Walsh and he was really good, just kinda slow. So one day I pulled him aside and told him if you made a few diet changes and exercised you would lose weight pretty quick. I offered that I would come in early and he could run in the gym but only if he would make the changes. Next day he was in school a hour early and we officially started. He would walk for a few minutes and jog for one. Next day same thing. And then next day, and the next and the next. He really just started going for it. A lot of the days he was there before me and not too long into it he was doing more jogging then walking. One of my good buddies, Drew bought him a pair of running shoes and we signed up for the Alivio 5K. Again to no surprise he finished, near the end but he finished. I remember James S who was a phenomenal runner at Walsh who finished 3rd overall waiting near the finish line arms hanging on the fence cheering for him to finish. There are a lot of stories where you hear of kids who are better because a teacher was in their life somehow... Mine is quite the opposite. Joel is one of those kids really like a lot of Walsh kids who have completely made me a better person. And although I've only maintained contact through FB since he left Walsh Joel made an impact that will not be forgotten.

Joel we grew up with each other and we had good times and some bad times. You were always happy regardless of how everybody else around you was feeling.  I will miss you greatly and miss the times we had together.

RIP Joel..just met you as a new neighbor you were such a sweet person..so glad I had the pleasure to meet you..you will be missed and never forgotten..

RIP Joe. You were always like a big brother to me and its going to be hard to not have you around anymore. But I know that where ever you are you're looking down on me and you know that I'll always miss you. I love you bro and I'll never forget you.
