I am heartbroken to hear of Johnny's sudden and tragic passing. My godfather will be sorely missed in the family.

I would like to let Barbara and the extended MCNAMARA family know that all his fellow brothers and sisters in the law enforcement community are praying for John (Flash). Those of us in the 15th District called john flash because he loved to be able to chase down offenders and bring them back to DA Wagon with that patented John smile a swagger. We were all happy to have someone like flash because most of us couldn't run more than a block. I will have great memories and stories to share with whoever will listen about (DA FLASH)  Retired C.P.D Sgt.

Like everyone else in the family, I am heartbroken over the sudden and tragic loss of Johnny.  He was much more than a cousin to me.  He was a good friend throughout childhood--everything that I imagined a brother might be.  I wish there were something that I could do to lessen the pain, but all I have to offer are my love and prayers.  Please know that you remain in my thoughts, and that there will be better days ahead.  As always, if there's anything at all that I can do to help, don't hesitate to let me know.

Uncle John,
you were such a gentle soul and I could see that in the way you always talked about your children and grandkids, so proud..  You treated all of us as family.  You even helped me out at my own wedding by holding Melanie while she slept. And let's not forget about all the pickles you got for her...I will always remember you as a wonderful uncle and I will miss our run ins at target. As I will miss you always.  GODSPEED. xoxoxo

Although we knew John for only a couple of years, we found him to be a gentle giant who was honest, sincere, generous and very welcoming.  He will always be remembered as a great friend and neighbor.
