Jorge L Rodriguez Sr.

Jorge Luis Rodriguez Sr., of Elgin, Illinois, formerly of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. A man full of laughter, warmth, and deep devotion, Jorge was the beloved husband and lifelong companion of his wife, Alba. Their bond was one of joy and deep friendship—together they shared more than a marriage, they shared a nightly domino game that spanned years. They lovingly kept score in a notebook under their playful nicknames, “Vega Baja” and “Guate,” a tribute to their roots.

Jorge was a devoted father to two sons- Jorge Jr. and Henry, a joyful grandfather to three grandchildren- Cristiano, Anaiz, and Matthew, and a model father figure to his daughters-in-law- Doreen and Nina. He brought humor and music into every room he entered—always lighthearted, always singing, always teasing. He often told Alba, “yo te veo hasta en la sopa,” a private joke that spoke to the closeness they shared in every part of life—from home, to work, to play.

He found a second home in Guatemala, the land of his wife’s heritage, which he visited often and embraced with love. And as his family began returning to Puerto Rico, Jorge rekindled his bond with his beloved island, visiting more frequently and always carrying the spirit of Vega Baja in his heart.

Jorge will be remembered for his humor, his music, his love of dominoes, and most of all, for the way he loved—with consistency, joy, and unshakable devotion.

Jorge Luis Rodríguez Sr., de Elgin, Illinois, y oriundo de Vega Baja, Puerto Rico, falleció pacíficamente rodeado de sus seres queridos. Hombre lleno de alegría, calidez y una profunda devoción, Jorge fue el amado esposo y compañero de vida de su esposa, Alba. Su unión fue una de amistad y alegría—compartieron mucho más que un matrimonio: compartieron una partida de dominó casi cada noche durante años. Anotaban los puntajes con cariño en una libreta, usando sus apodos "Vega Baja" y "Guate", un homenaje a sus raíces.

Jorge fue un padre dedicado de dos hijos—Jorge Jr. y Henry, un abuelo alegre de tres nietos-- Cristiano, Anaiz, y Matthew, y un ejemplo de figura paterna para sus nueras--Doreen and Nina. Llenaba cada espacio con humor y música—siempre con una sonrisa, siempre tarareando, siempre bromista. Le decía a Alba con ternura: “yo te veo hasta en la sopa,” una frase entre ellos que reflejaba lo unidos que estaban en todos los aspectos de la vida—en el hogar, en el trabajo y en el juego.

Encontró un segundo hogar en Guatemala, tierra natal de su esposa, país que visitaba con frecuencia y al que le tenía gran cariño. Y a medida que su familia fue regresando a Puerto Rico, Jorge también renovó su conexión con su isla querida, visitándola cada vez con más frecuencia y llevando siempre consigo el espíritu de Vega Baja en el corazón.

Jorge será recordado por su buen humor, su amor por la música, su pasión por el dominó, y sobre todo, por la manera en que amó—con constancia, alegría y una devoción inquebrantable.
