Kristine Joy Ledesma

We are sad to announce the passing of Kristine Joy Ledesma. Kristine, age of 33, left this world on August 1, 2022. Her family and friends tearfully sent her off to be with her grandparents, Mabini and Luz Maravilla and Jose Ledesma, who passed before her.

Kristine was born on November 8, 1988 to her parents, Jorge and Jocelyn Ledesma.

Kristine loved spending time with her family and friends, as well as her sweet dog, Kai, who she referred to as her “baby”. Kristine was exceedingly outgoing and had a myriad of friends. She would often refer to herself as a “shy, delicate flower” which her close circle knew was far from the truth. She was a social butterfly who brought joy and lightness to those who met her!

Among Kristine many interests, food, make-up and romance novels were her top three. Kristine loved eating out and exploring different restaurants the city had to offer. She loved documenting her foodie adventures on Instagram. If you opened her phone’s photo album, most of them are pictures of food she’s enjoyed all around Chicago, especially sushi. She was a sushi junkie.

Kristine’s love of make-up went beyond her extensive collection. She showed her creative side through her make-up skills, whether they were on herself or on friends for fun or special events. She was quick to give tips and will tell you if you needed to blend more. She would give Hollywood make-up artists a run for their money with her expertise.

Kristine was an avid reader. During her quieter times, she loved reading romance novels because they were a celebration of love that sparked hope, happiness, and empowerment that she valued. She also had a mischievous side for her love of books. Sometimes, for fun, she would go to Barnes and Nobles to rearrange book titles and to find funny or out of context book titles and laugh at them.

Curiosity, creativity, and optimism were only a fraction of Kristine’s beloved qualities. Most of all, Kristine was a fiercely loyal daughter, sister, and friend. She had a strong sense of justice and was always quick to speak up for those who couldn’t defend themselves.

Kristine is survived by her loving parents Jorge and Jocelyn Ledesma; her loving brother Christopher Ledesma; her longtime boyfriend, Christian Alamaraz; her cherished dog, Kai; her grandmother Maria Carmen; her Lola, Cecilia Maravilla and her Lolo, Juanito Maravilla; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

She will be missed dearly and will always hold a place in our hearts. We would love you to come and honor her life.

A visitation will be held from 3 pm – 8 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Drake and Son Funeral Home, 5303 N. Western Ave., Chicago, IL 60625. A Funeral Mass will begin at 3:30 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the Funeral Home.

There will be a prayer service on Sunday, August 7, 2022 from 9:30 am – 10:30 am at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 11 am on Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Rosehill Cemetery, 5800 N. Ravenswood Ave., Chicago, IL 60660.
