Lambro George Galanes, age 89, served in the Korean War 1950-1952, Army Division, 11th Evacuation Hospital, working as a medic, also served as a Greek interpreter, and processed prisoners of war, also a member of the Korean War Project; born 12-11-1930 to the late George and Giannoula Galanes in Chicago, IL; beloved husband of the late Irene (Gianopulos) Galanes (Married 9-26-1954) who preceded him in death on 12-04-2013; loving father of George (Linda) Galanes, William Galanes, Janet Galanes, Tina (Kevin) Howell, and Anne (Frank) Rossi; adored grandfather of Emily (Bryan) Eslinger, Katie (Preston) Van Deusen, Nicole Hartwig, Jordan Hartwig, Jason Hartwig, Rachel (Ben) Hanson, Sarah (Allan) Rezendez, Joey Rossi, James Rossi, and John Rossi, dear great-grandfather of Kiera Farias, Sage Hanson, Brandon Van Deusen, Greta Hanson, Heidi Hanson, and Isaac Van Deusen; preceded in death also by his infant brother Gus and sister Nicoletta dedicated husband and father. Served in the Korean war 1950-1952, 11th Evacuation Hospital. Lambro worked at the Palatine Post Office for 25 years as a mail clerk, and he was an avid Chicago White Sox and Bears fan. He was lovingly cared for by the wonderful staff at the LaSalle Veterans’ Home in LaSalle, IL since August 8, 2017.
