

Lavergne Jeanette Kuffer (nee Banzek) of Schiller Park passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Ascension Alexian Hospice Residence in Elk Grove Village, Illinois at the age of 92. Lavergne was born on July 12, 1932 to Stanley and Eleanore (Olszewski) Banzek in Chicago, Illinois. Lavergne was a loving wife of the late Owen Glen Kuffer for 64 years. A dedicated mother of the late Dennis Kuffer, the late Leonard (Deb) Kuffer, the late Gary Kuffer, Martin Kuffer, Karen (Carl) Tednes, Diane (Gus) Frangos. A beloved grandmother of Michael, Kathleen, Owen, Candace, Veronica, Joseph, Erik and Alexander. A devoted great grandmother of 15.
Lavergne enjoyed reading the Bible, the Sunday Newspapers, Gossip magazines like the Enquirer and the Star. She liked music from the 50's and 60's, one of her favorites was Patsy Cline. Lavergne liked watching comedy shows such as Mama's Family, and crime drama's; Law and Order was her favorite. She enjoyed relaxing in the yard watching the birds and squirrels do their daily routines. She loved her dogs, always had at least one in the house, usually more. One of her favorite tasks was caring and cooking for her family, one of her specialties was potato salad and oyster dressing for the holidays. She didn't care for spicy foods or any kind of conflicts. She looked forward to the weekend that were spent boating on The Chain of Lakes with the family. She developed a special BBQ sauce which was dubbed "Mambo Sauce". The kids were very active in sports, which Lavergne could be seen at taking parts in as a fan and helping out where she could. As a leader of boy scouts and girl scouts the kids were always involved and in the center was Lavergne assuring a fun and safe time, she would get volunteered to many tasks, as the kids thought "My mom can and will do it" and she did. She always had a smile on her face and kind words to say. Her favorite flower was gardenia, and holiday was Christmas because she knew the family would be gathered together. Her blue eyes would sparkle when she spoke of her family.
A visitation will be held at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 W Belmont Ave, Chicago, IL on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM. A memorial service will take place at the funeral home starting at 11:30 AM and will proceed to St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, Illinois.
