Lela Kaye (Williams) Bramham was born on January 7,1954 at the Great Lakes Military Base to Abraham Williams and Lela Ann Williams (who both preceded her in death). Lela departed this Earth on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
Lela became a Christian at a very young age where she was able to express her understanding of God's love during a preschool performance while reciting the lines, "Hold my hand Lord and guide my feet". Lela was hungry for a church that preached the word of God. Coming from the background of being an army brat she continued that spirit of relocating, which resulted in Lela becoming a member and regular attendee at several churches. Lela's involvement included 20 years of fellowship, where she was baptized and a member of the choir at Calvary Memorial Church, Bible Studies at Grace for Life Bible Church and participated in crafts and worship at First Church of God.
Lela grew up on the South Side of Chicago where she attended Doolittle elementary school and graduated from Wendell Phillips high school at the young age of 16. Lela then attended Kendall College where she met the love of her life Howard Lee Bramham (who preceded her in death). Howard and Lela had a beautiful union for 38 years, which she cherished. As a wife and mother, Lela had a passion for serving and caring for others. This inspired her to obtain a bachelor's degree in Sociology from Roosevelt University where her devotion of helping others went above and beyond whether she was a Purchasing Clerk with McMaster Carr, Real Estate professional with Keller Williams or Retail associate at Cracker Barrel.
Children's Remembrance of Mom
Mom had the gift of problem solving, from Crosswords Puzzles and Sudoku to giving great advice to her children and peers
Mom loved to attend sock-hops and school reunions where she loved to dance and have fun
Mom had great enthusiasm about her travels with family and friends. She never missed an opportunity to try new foods, ride roller coasters /zip lines or
learn about other cultures and traditions
Mom taught us it was always important to treat others kindly, treat them the way you would like to be treated and not necessarily the way they treat you.
One thing we will keep with us about Mom is she always loved to smile, laugh and was always in good spirits.
Lela leaves to cherish her memory six children Honda Anderson (Billy), Maurice Bramham (Nicole), Yolanda Bramham, Katrice Nicholson (Leon), Amanda Bramham and Diana Bramham; seven grandchildren Kendall, Kameron, Donovan, Lil Kameron, Leon, Lechelle and Marquis; two brothers Frank Brim and Maurice Caffey (Tish) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
