To the Sciabica family - I just came across this tonight. I was looking up names of people I worked with at MacNeal Hospital. Mary was a favorite. She was so full of life and her kids were everything to her, along with Sam. She looks exactly the same. Those clear eyes and pretty skin and perfect hair and makeup. How do you do that with seven children? She did. She was a wonderful worker. I remember her bringing sweets on St. Joseph's Day. Once she told me she was late to work because she put a shoebox of money from the sale of Girl Scout or Boy Scout fundraising items on top of the car and forgot about it and drove off. Money flying everywhere. And she is laughing while telling the story so we all laughed. Lots of fun stories of her daily life. I am sad for your losing her. I loved reading the notes from you all. Great job raising your children, Mary. Thanks for the memories at MacNeal.  Rest. Joyce

     My mom was a fighter and had her share of hardships growing up.  Mom would often say she did not want to feel alone as she did as a child so  mom and dad decided to have 7 children.  Life was hectic with 7 children but mom wouldn't want it any other way. 
     Mom worked full time and did many extra activities for her children.  She was PTA president, band president, little league president, girl and boy scout leader, homeroom mom and everything in between.  Mom also had many hobbies including knitting, needle point, ceramics and selling Avon for 30 years.  
     Mom loved having family around and adored her 13 grandchildren.  Mom gave everything she had to each and everyone of us and was always there if we needed her no matter what.  
     Over the years mom's body took a beating and time caught up with her.  She lived her life the way she wanted to and did what made her happy.  Mom's favorite song by Frank Sinatra was "My Way".  
     So we celebrate mom for always doing it her way.  I love you mom and will miss you but know you are in heaven now dancing with old blue eyes!  I will see you again one day!

I know very well that you have never lived a life of your own beyond raising us seven children, especially with John and I (twins) at the end. Most of your time could have been spent concentrating on your career, but instead you focused your efforts on caring for all of us. Thank you for being a great mom and for always trying to make things easier for me and my siblings
Thank you for always being upfront with me. It ensured that I always knew exactly where I stood with you. If and when I messed up, I knew it – and I knew it immediately. You’ve taught me that it’s okay to be wrong, but it’s important to learn from my wrongdoings in order to avoid making the same mistake twice. Sometimes the truth is hard to hear, but hearing it makes you a better person. 
Thank you for teaching me to speak up. Thinking about it now, I’ve never really heard anybody tell you “no. ” You always worked tirelessly for what you wanted for the family and you never quit until you got just that. Being taught the importance of speaking your mind has given me the backbone I need to go places and succeed in this world. Thank you for making me stubborn. Growing up, your stubborn ways would get on my nerves, but I’ve learned much more than I ever thought I would from your stubbornness and your resilient ways. I’ve seen how strong-willed you were. Because of that, I know exactly what I believe, and I believe in it wholeheartedly. You’ve made me realize that not every person you meet is going to protect and nurture you at all times. The real world is harsh.  
Most of all, thank you for the tough love. Raising me wasn’t always rainbows and butterflies, I’ll be the first to admit it. I’m stubborn and sometimes too honest for my own good! 
I just wanted to take this moment to say THANK YOU for all you did to help make me who I am TODAY!  Everyday I live… you live on through me - and for that I am grateful!

My mother was truly a remarkable woman. I miss her dearly and one day I will see her again in heaven.
