

Nilda Antazo was born on November 24, 1933, in Manila, Philippines, and passed away peacefully the evening of Friday, June 13, 2025, at the age of 91 with the love of her family surrounding her in Chicago, Illinois. Her parents were Petronilo S. Antazo Sr., and Francisca Dela Rosa Miranda Antazo. She graduated Bachelors Science degree in Business Administration in Manila, Philippines. Nilda worked as a payroll clerk at Dr. Alejandro Albert Elementary School in Manila, Philippines then worked in Chicago at State Security Ins. Co., Polish American Asso. and Melon Bank.
She was a devoted guardian, raising her nephews and nieces from elementary school through high school, and was a guardian to multiple family members. Nilda had a passion for music, especially Filipino folk songs and kundiman, and loved listening to Larry Miranda, Ruben Tagalog, and Pablo Virtuoso's music, with "Lumang Simbahan" and "Orasan ng Pag-ibig" being some of her favorites. She loved watching her favorite actor Fernando Poe Jr., and actress Nida Blanca. She enjoyed going to food chains, particularly Ma Mon Luk, where she loved ordering siopao, lomi, mami and siomai. She enjoyed dining at Hunam Chinese Restaurant in Quiapo. She also enjoyed going to the movies and watching her daily soap operas/tele novelas. In her free time, she enjoyed crocheting curtains and knitting. She also loved making sandwiches, salads, macaroni salad, and spaghetti. Nilda lovingly cared for her mother in her old age until she passed away and lovingly cared for her nieces and nephews. She encouraged them to have self-confidence by joining extracurricular activities like choir, rondalla, speech choir, and sports. She would also go to the school to defend her nieces and nephews when they were being bullied. Nilda is survived by her loving siblings Esperanza Antazo, Rafael Antazo, and Virgil Antazo, her sister in laws Marita, Lilia, and Edith, and her adoring nieces and nephews Darwin, Geraldine, April, Virgil Joseph, Angelique, Emmanuel, Christina, Marife, Maria Theresa, Arnel, Wilbur, Orville and Kathryn, and her many cherished grand and great grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Aurora, Leonidas, Petronilo Jr., Cesar, and Fe Antazo.
A visitation for Nilda will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Drake and Son Funeral Homes, 5303 North Western Avenue, Chicago, Illinois, 60625.
