Rosalie M. McGlynn, 89, passed from this life on August 15, 2025, the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Her loving family and friends will miss her dearly, but this holy day reminds us that her death was not an ending but a passage to a new, eternal life of joy and love with God.
Rosalie was the caring daughter of the late William and Myra (Feely) McGlynn and beloved sister of the late William (Mary) McGlynn. She was an adoring niece of many aunts and uncles, including Jim and Willie Feely and Margie McGlynn with whom she shared a home and cared for until their deaths. Rosalie was a dear cousin of multiple generations of McGlynn, Moroney, Barry, Feely, and Burns families. She was a loving and thoughtful aunt of the Lestina, Nichols, Koclanes, McGlynn, and Groholski families.
Rosalie enjoyed her education and lifelong friendships from Providence High School, Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College (BS), and DePaul University (MA). She considered education to be a great gift. She was a cherished math teacher at Marshall Metropolitan High School and then counselor at Foreman High School in Chicago for over four decades. Rosalie supported students and colleagues, many of whom became her dear friends. She supported many members of her family in their educational journeys. Rosalie endowed a scholarship at Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in honor of her aunt, Sister Amata (Rosalie) McGlynn, who was a chemistry professor there.
Rosalie was always making generous meals for her family and friends. Each table included cleverly constructed flower arrangements and table settings as well as the finest of tea and cakes. The more loved ones around the table the better. She documented every event with beautiful photos, which she printed and shared with her guests, and she archived them in albums that will always be treasured. She was a caring neighbor and generous supporter of her community.
Rosalie was profoundly faith filled. Sharing the traditions of the Catholic Mass and the beauty of the Church itself brought her great joy. We believe that Rosalie will be as cherished in heaven as she made us feel all our lives.
All are invited to a visitation on Friday, September 26, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home, 6901 W.
