I never thought that I'd be writing this 6 months ago. I can't help but think about what might have been, what should have been; what was...sometimes the pain is so bad. You'd think that I'd be used to the pain of losing those that I love but you and I both know that it never really goes away - it just becomes part of who you are.

Six months ago, I rec'd the call. It does not seem like that long ago. I still reach out and think to call you. I miss you and love you very much.

One year ago today we had our first date.  You remember the "awkward date" where we went to dinner not realizing it was "Valentine's weekend" and you were surprised that I "dressed up". We were both surprised that three hours later we were still there talking.  I am and will be forever grateful that you asked me to have dinner with you.  You brought such joy to my life for however brief our romance was. You are always on my mind and in my heart.

I had a dream last night that the last six weeks were just a nightmare.  Oh how I wish that were true!  I try so hard to think of you as being at peace now and to be happy with that, but it's really hard when I hurt and miss you so much. Shock..is the only word I can think of right now. After not being in touch with Steve since we were in the Marine Corps, then getting together with him and others from our grade school..I thought it was going to be fun growing old...together...the Holy Innocents crowd. We'll miss you Steve.

We just reconnected with Steve on Sunday, after all these years since graduating from Holy Innocents.   We're glad we got to spend that beautiful day with him.   May he rest in peace.

Outside of family, you took a genuine care and concern about my life more than anyone I ever met. I knew when you asked "How are things going?"you meant it.
