Theresa Mescall

She was born on March 28, 1941.

Theresa Mescall, beloved daughter of the late Bernard and Jean Smalarz, passed away peacefully on April 19, 2025, at the age of 84.

Survived by her five children: Tom Mescall and his wife Jeanette, Todd Mescall and his wife Michelina, Tammy McNamara and her husband John, Ted Mescall and his wife Misty, Tim Mescall and his wife Robin.

Theresa was a cherished grandmother to Ashley (Greg) Ridge, Christopher McNamara, Amber, Joey, Breanna, Kayle, Amy, Bobby, Alyssa, Cameron, Nick, Nora, Jayden and Nathan Mescall—and delighted in her great grandsons Jackson and Mason Ridge. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister Arlene (Ted) Zirbes, her nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.

A bright and welcoming hostess, there was always room at Theresa’s table—and a warm seat by her door—for anyone in need of a kind word or a home cooked meal. She spent many years working alongside good friends at Moe’s and Fannie Mae, and “life was a little sweeter knowing her” became her family’s favorite way to say goodbye.

A visitation for Theresa will be held Thursday, April 24, 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM, officiated by Father Mike, at Malec & Sons Funeral Home, 6000 North Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646.

A final viewing will occur Friday, April 25, 2025 from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM, 6000 North Milwaukee Ave, Chicago, IL 60646.

A mass will occur Friday, April 25, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Elizabeth of the Trinity Parish & Church, 6020 W Ardmore Ave, Chicago, IL 60646.
