William (Bill) was born in 1926, and at 3 years of age, his father was killed in the line of duty. The only role models he had was his Mother and Uncle. At the age of 17, he joined the Navy. He survived WWII, came home and met a beautiful woman named Theresa. They wed in 1952. Living in a 2 bedroom apt in an old 3 flat, they had 6 children, John, William, Steve (Maryann) Tina (Mike) Robert, and Sandy (Phil). He worked full time, and Theresa with the help from relatives, took care of the children. At the age of 39 he purchased his first home. Bill and Theresa put their children through school and survived the ups and downs of those teenage years. Pretty soon the children went their separate ways, but always made it home on Sunday for dinner. As time went on, their children had children. Jason was the first grandson, later Daniel, and then Chloe. Ecstatic is the only word to describe the feeling they had with 3 beautiful grandchildren, and then came 3 great-grandchildren, Anthony, Gabriella, and Gina. They truly felt blessed.
In 2001, Bill lost the love of his life. He was beside himself, wasn’t sure if he could do it without her. Somehow, over time, he found the strength. But at the age of 90, on February 23rd, 2017, Bill passed away. He will forever be in our hearts…until we meet again. Memorial visitation Saturday June 3, 2017 from 3:00pm until 9:00am at The Montclair-Lucania Funeral Home 6901 W. Belmont Avenue Chicago. Please omit flowers.
