David J. Pody

Funeral service for David J. Pody, age 86, of Childersburg will be, Monday, April 1, 2013 at 11AM at Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel with the Reverend Chuck Kornegay, Reverend Jimmy Green and Reverend Tommy Thornton officiating. Burial will be in Greenhill Cemetery. David Pody was a man who kept his word, spoke kind words, always eager to know about your life, always helped others and never complained. He loved my grandmother with his whole heart. He led a simple life of gardening, yardsale-ing, knife collecting and always visiting folks in the hospital. He was a member and deacon of Trinity Baptist Church, he took care of his churchs Christmas church baskets and also played Santa Claus for the church and other places and loved his dog shorty. He was also a member of the brotherhood. He may have led a simple life, but he was no simple man. He always talked about the importance of having a good foundation when we built something, but he never had to tell anybody his foundation for living; people knew it was Christ. We are gonna to miss our Papaw Pody, but we know he’s in a better place. We love you David Pody. The family would like to thank New Beacon Hospice, all the women of the church, neighbors and friends for all the wonderful food. Mr. Pody is survived by his Wife: Ann Pody of Childersburg; Sons: David Glenn Pody (Kathy) of Hueytown, Charles Smith (Nancy) of Lincoln, Glenn Smith (Frankie) of Gardendale, David Smith (Serina) of Talladega; Daughters: Barbara Harkins (Doyle) of Leeds, Deneise Pody of Childersburg, Judy Mecham (Richard) of Gainsville, GA; 15 Grandchildren; 28 Great Grandchildren and Brothers: Meredith Pody of Sylacauga and Clyde Pody of Childersburg. Curtis and Son Childersburg Chapel will direct the services.
