I found out about Mr. John's passing today, and I am saddened and yet rejoice that he is whole in Heaven.  My mother lives at Winthrop West and she loved to visit with him.  The first Valentines Day that she lived there, I attended the Valentines Party and Mr. John danced with me and sang along with the performer as we danced.  In the short two years that we knew him, my family grew to love him.  Peace and comfort to you in your loss.

I just found out about Mr. Bowling's passing. As I cry for the loss of such a great man, I rejoice that he is now made whole by God's healing hand. My mother, Edna McGill and "Paw Paw" became close friends during their time at Winthrop. We always loved visiting Paw Paw and hearing him sing Amazing Grace was such a treat. I have many pictures and a couple of videos I would love to share with the family if they would like to contact me. He was a true Southern gentleman and a WWII veteran who was proud to the last of his service to his country. Mr Bowling was the epitome of a member of the greatest generation and he will be missed! I was saddened to hear of Mr. Bowling's passing.  I have great memories of Mr. John.  He was a Sunday School teacher of mine when I was a kid at First Baptist Church of Childersburg.  I also remember going with my grandmother Riddle to Moody Brother's and picking up some fresh meat, cut to order that Mr. John prepared for my grandmother.  He was a dear man. He never failed at putting a smile on my face! I will hold close the many precious memories I have of Mr. Bowling, especially his singing! Count Your Blessings, will forever remind me of him!
