Agnes (Nettie) Neufeld was born on March 13, 1919 in Aberdeen, SK. After the untimely death of her mother, the children were sent to live with other families. Agnes and her younger brother Bob were adopted by Gerhard and Lena Fleming when she was 8 years old. They later moved to the Fraser Valley.
Agnes, as a single woman, adopted Sandra in 1944 and brought her to live in her family home. She married Bernard (Ben) Neufeld on July 17, 1952 and they became an instant family. They were soon blessed with another daughter Beverly (1953), a 3rd daughter Kathleen (1956) and finally a son Dave (1962). Many other children filled their home and lives as they cared for dozens of children in need of a loving family.
Agnes accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior at the age of 14. She completed 4 years of Biblical Studies at Yarrow Bible School. She has been a steadfast example of faith in practice to all those she has touched. Her generous love, acceptance and constant prayer will impact us into eternity. Ben and Agnes faithfully served in The Church of the Nazarene in the Como Lake and Chilliwack congregations.
Agnes had a quiet and gentle spirit but she also enjoyed a bit of mischief now and again. She was well known by her children for starting water fights and other pranks she loved to play. Tickling dad’s nose with a feather when he napped, scaring the girls when they snuck outside for a midnight picnic, and target practice with the pellet gun on a nuisance dog (she hit her mark too)!
Her memory will be cherished by her husband Ben; her children Beverly (Bruce) Bauman, Kathleen (Rick) Gibson, Dave (Barb) Neufeld and (Rudy) Rempel; grandchildren Darlene Rempel, Daryle (Amy) Rempel, Trevor Rempel, Lorilynn (Kevin) Midkiff, Twyla (Carman) Dutz, Nathan (Chaeyoung) Bauman, Jeremy (Sylvia) Bauman, Rachel (Rob) Graham, Anthony Gibson, Amanda (Kendall) Buhler, Bernie (Ashley) Neufeld and Roxy Neufeld; 22 great grand-children; 1 great-great grandson; her cherished foster daughter Virginia and her lifelong friend Mary Jensen. Her daughter Sandra is waiting to welcome her into heaven.
Mom, you will always make us smile. We miss you so much.
