Mom was born on June 22, 1933 in Arcola, Saskatchewan. In her
early adulthood life, Albina moved to Saskatoon. She lived on
33rd street for 54 years in the same home that she and Elmer built.
Mom was an amazing hard working and independent woman.
Albina worked for many years in the retail food and drug industry
in Saskatoon and retired in 1980. In 2009, Albina moved to
Chilliwack BC at the encouragement of her children so she would
be close to her family. In Chilliwack, she lived in a wonderful gated
community of Hazelwood Grove where she took great pride in her
apartment that overlooked the coastal mountains in the Fraser
Valley. In 2017, after being in the hospital, Albina moved to The
Birchwood Retirement Residence in central Chilliwack.
Albina was a great home-style cook, and a baker of pies and
famous cinnamon buns and cheesecake that were enjoyed by
all the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren over
the years. Albina also was an avid gardener and for many years
loved growing all her own fruits & vegetables for canning as well
as beautiful flowers. Mom was a spirited sports fan who loved
most sports. She would never miss a Curling Match, Hockey
Game, or CFL football game on TV. In most recent years, at the
encouragement of her grand daughter and great grandchildren
in the USA, she became an avid watcher of Ohio State Buckeye
college football. Albina was also a great follower and season ticket
holder of the Chilliwack Bruins WHL hockey club when located in
Chilliwack.
Thanks go out to the caring staff of the Fraser Valley Health Care
that took care of Albina over the past 5 months and the staff at the
Birchwood Retirement Residence and her staff for the loving care
they provided to Mom the last few months. We would also like to
thank her family physician, Dr. Mervin Scholtz, and his staff and
associated at the Viva Care Clinic in Chilliwack.
Albina will be laid to rest in the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, in
Saskatoon, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mom’s memory may
be made to the MS society of Canada
