Andrew Josef Forrest

Andrew Josef Forrest, aged 50, passed away on July 31, 2024, leaving behind a lifetime of laughter, adventure, and a collection of fishing stories that may or may not have been exaggerated. A beloved son, brother, and unkie, Andrew had a zest for life that was as big as the fish he claimed to catch.

Born to Trudi Forrest and the late Dennis Forrest, had a knack for finding joy in the simple things. Whether it was fishing in the great outdoors, hunting for the perfect shot, or navigating the virtual worlds of his favorite games, he approached everything with enthusiasm and a healthy dose of humor. Paintball was another of his passions, where he claimed his "stealth skills" were legendary—though his friends at the Knights of Nee may say otherwise.

Andrew was known for his infectious laughter and his ability to turn any situation into a funny story. As a son, he was the apple of his mother's eye, even if he sometimes tested her patience with his antics. As a brother and uncle, he was the instigator of pranks, the keeper of secrets, and the teller of tall tales. He loved nothing more than making his family laugh, even if it meant sacrificing a bit of his dignity in the process.

He is survived by his loving mother, Trudi Forrest (Stew Fulton); his sister, Michele Hogg (Jerry Hogg) ; and his beloved sisters’ children Lysander and Nicholas Hogg, who will forever cherish the memories of his playful spirit and the "fishing tales" that got taller every year.

A celebration of Andrew's life will be held in the spring of 2025 in Chilliwack. Friends and family are encouraged to come ready with their favorite Andrew stories and, of course, a healthy sense of humor. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Cascade Hospice in his memory, because even in passing, Andrew would want to leave a lasting impact—preferably a funny one.

While we may never know if the fish was really that big, we do know that Andrew's heart was as big as his stories, and he will be dearly missed. Rest in peace, and may your fish always be the biggest, your shots the straightest, and your respawns unlimited.
