Anton is survived by daughters Leonie (Dale), Marika (Kevin) and Brigitta (William). His grandchildren Brian, Robyn, Jordan, Josh, Anthony and Samantha.Great grandchildren Tayah, Keila, Keilana, and Karter. Also his beloved cat, Poeleman” and special family friend Jackie. Anton is predeceased by his wife, “Loes”, and his son Ferdinand (Catherine).
Anton was born in s’Gravenhage on August 2, 1927. In his early years, he had a passion for sailing and his entrepreneurial spirit took him on new adventures throughout his life. He came to Canada in 1957, then returned to Holland, and later immigrated to Canada in 1959.
He had a bold sense of adventure and in his early years loved to travel and explore new places. He took his family to Edmonton, Whitehorse, Dawson Creek, Australia - never staying very long in any one place, but later settling in Whitehorse in 1962. In 1978 he was “tired of the cold weather” and moved his family to Maui, where he and his “Loes” spent many wonderful years, although in the early years he was still “working & flying back and forth! In 2002, they settled in Chilliwack.
He was always on the go - it was hard to keep up to his pace! He enjoyed his work as an electrician and said “Monday’s were his favorite day! When he wasn’t working he enjoyed cards, board games and would surprise you with his practical jokes.
