OBITUARY

Betty-Lou (Sharon) Patience

5 March, 1944 – 2 March, 2026
IN THE CARE OF

Henderson's Funeral Homes & Crematorium

Betty-Lou Patience, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and cherished sister passed away peacefully on March 2nd, 2026 at Chilliwack General Hospital at 81 years old.

Born on March 5th, 1944 to parents Anna Muriel Sharon (nee Chadsey) and Maurice William Sharon of Cultus Lake, BC, Mom was proud to call Chilliwack home. She married Wallace Murray Patience in 1965 and gave birth to twins Wallace Michael and Wendy Michelle in 1967.

Mom’s working life was spent with the Royal Bank of Canada, starting in Vancouver in 1962 and retiring in 1997 as Chilliwack's favourite drive-through bank teller, always going above and beyond for her loyal customers.

In Mom’s retirement she enjoyed spending time with her expanding family, volunteering in her community, gardening, camping, quilting, crocheting and especially travelling.

Mom’s travel adventures with Dad included numerous trips to Hawaii, Mexico and England, plus cruises to Alaska and the Baltics. After Dad’s passing in 2008, Mom especially enjoyed traveling with friends on tours organized by Jackson Tours of Chilliwack, BC and those holidays took her to France, Italy, Iceland, Croatia, Slovenia, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand and across Canada. For Mom’s 70th birthday she surprised Michael and Michelle with an amazing holiday to the Big Island of Hawaii.

Mom was a life-long passionate fan of music and the arts, with favourites including Elvis Presley, Barbara Streisand, Allan Jackson, and John Denver. She spent countless hours enjoying shows at the Chilliwack Cultural Centre, watching movies and reading. She volunteered her time to Beta Sigma Phi, Chilliwack Hospital Service League and the Promontory Women’s Institute.

Throughout her life, Mom prioritized her family and friends and valued open-mindedness and fairness, and her daily actions inspired those around her to be kind to one another.

Mom is survived by daughter Michelle (Meco) Fedrau and husband Stan Fedrau, son Michael Patience and partner Tania Parisella, grand-daughter Caitlyn Martens and husband Brett Martens, great-granddaughters Audrey and Rosie Martens, and grand-daughter Tori Fedrau and partner Alex Rademacher.

We would like to thank our family and friends for their overwhelming support during this difficult time, and there will be no service by Mom’s personal request.
