Bruce was born and raised in Richmond with his four siblings, Darryl, Russel, Susan, and Tony. There he lived a life full of adventures and stories that included many childhood friends, playing football, and their escapades in beetle park. Bruce shared fond memories of this time until his passing. Bruce met Sheree in 1988 and in 1993 they moved to Chilliwack with their four boys, Nicholas, Dylan, Tyler, and Derek.
In Chilliwack, Bruce began a successful blinds business, where he made many connections to the community. This business allowed Bruce to focus on what was most important to him, his family. Bruce was extremely dedicated to all of his family, they meant the world to him. He was a proud father who coached many sports and didn’t miss a thing in his kids lives, this was his priority. Bruce switched careers in 2008 and became a drug and alcohol counsellor. He quickly found his passion in this line of work, many have expressed how he was able to walk alongside them in their journeys to recovery; Bruce had a gift once again for connecting with people on their level. This was evident in his retirement party when he was shocked to see so many colleagues honour his time in this line of work that he loved so much.
He became a grandfather in 2009 to Madison and was the best papa, always watching over her and spent countless hours rocking out to music, playing playdough, and coining the term “who loves you baby”. He went on to have 9 grandkids, Addisyn, Madison, Liam, Lacey, Layla, Jude, Callen, Luca, and Alessi; and he loved each of them with his whole heart, giving them everything he could. In these final years of his life, the things that brought him most joy was holding his grandbaby’s. The family is heartbroken that he won’t be here to continue to cherish each of them deeply. Bruce loved his family more than anything and made sure they all knew how proud he was of them. He had so much love to give and made such a profound impact on everyone he connected with. Bruce’s legacy will live on through his family, he will be loved and missed forever.
A special thank you to Valley Haven Care Home for providing exceptional care; the staff went above and beyond to ensure Bruce felt loved, belonged, and connected in his time there.
