Daddy had a love for fishing. He had many fishing trips over the years with Roy, Butch and Walter and created many memories with them and shared the stories many times over the years.
Dad loved spending time with all his grandchildren, teaching them his love of life’s treasures. He taught them to drive his small tractor and then the mopeheads. Dad bought the kids pocket knives and taught them how to whittle. Dad enjoyed taking the kids camping and fishing at Emory Creek and Kawkawa Lake and teaching them how to catch fish and to land them. He would take the kids to Othello Tunnels and he would make them read every information sign, as he would tell the kids it was educational trips.
Dad had wonderful neighbours whom I couldn't thank enough for all they did for Dad. Fran, Cheryl, Johnny, Allen, Ruth, Larry and Eddy. Dad loved and appreciated you all.
Dad left school after grade 7 to help on the family farm. He never had trouble with having a job as he had strong work ethics. He started with a paper route, the started a rototilling business. Worked for Totems Groceries, he was a cookie salesman. Dad started working for Toots Phillips selling mens’ fashions then it became Al Jeffries Men’s Ware.
He was in need of a change and with Mom’s help, she worked tirelessly with dad when he started at BCIT to get his oil furnace ticket and then purchased Hugh’s Heating. He kept his customers for years and a lot remained friends after he retired. After he sold the business he was still getting calls to come fix furnaces.
The Family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and staff on 2 North. You were wonderful to Daddy.
We love and miss you Daddy. We promise to keep your memories and all the stories alive.
Blinky is missing you terribly, but he will be well-loved and cared for. I’ll get the garden planted without you in Charlie’s garden.
