Delores Marie O’Reilly passed away on Friday March 15th, 2024 in Chilliwack, B.C. at the age of 79 years. She was born August 11, 1944 in Cutknife, Saskatchewan, the 2nd oldest of 15 children to Raymond and Katherine (Osiowy) Beaudry.
Delores was predeceased by her husband Norman, whom she was married to for nearly 53 years.
She is survived by her son Jason O’Reilly, daughter Kara (Daryl) Kidwell and grandchildren Coby and Nola. Also leaving behind 13 of her siblings, having lost one brother.
She left home at a young age to blaze her own trail. She was a Calgary Stampeders cheerleader, and had a lifelong love of watching the CFL. She met her husband Norm when she lived in Vancouver in the 60’s, and a few years later as a mom of 2 young children she not only enjoyed curling but also took a lead role in a play, when she lived in the Kootenays. She loved Elvis Presley, learning about history and was always up for an adventure.
Her child rearing and retirement years were spent in the Shuswap. Delores invested many hours volunteering at her kids schools, driving them to events, sewing them costumes, creating beautiful birthday cakes, and finding an imaginative way to make their weird or wonderful ideas come to reality. She was creatively talented, sewed with great skill and was a wonderful cook. As well as a very focused story teller!
Over the years she volunteered for many charities The Arthritis Society, Kidney Foundation and Heart and Stroke foundation to name a few. She had a generous soul.
Once her children left home she had time for her next great interest GOLF! She enjoyed playing multiple times a week with the ladies group, with Norm or even by herself.
In more recent years she stayed closer to home, which became Chilliwack. She spent more time watching golf and reading but seemed happiest when she was with her grandchildren playing games, supporting their reading and doing crafts with them. She loved hearing about their adventures and being part of their lives every chance she got.
Through her life of many ups and downs, she was always ready to offer a welcoming smile.
We will all remember her laugh.
She was loved more than she could believe.
