Eileen Viola Green

SEPTEMBER 18, 1923 – MAY 19, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our, Mom, Grandma and Great Grandma Eileen Viola Green (nee Boardman) on May 19. 2021 at the age of 97.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Robert of 54 years in 2003. Parents Harold and Elizabeth Boardman, sister Lois Dyck, Aunt Margaret and Uncle Halvor Westgard.

Eileen will be sadly missed by her daughters. Audrey(Fred), Muriel(Dave), Barbara and Deborah. Five grandchildren Kristine(Bradley), Amanda(David), Chandel, Daniel and Douglas. Seven great grandchildren Lola, Andrea, Levi, Jack, Henry, Aiden and Ashton.

Mom and Dad were married August of 1949 and built numerous homes in Vancouver to raise their family. In her earlier years Mom was raised in Columbia Valley and Vedder Crossing. Later moving to Langley to graduate from Langley Secondary in 1941. Mom obtained her grade 13 and attended business school. Furthering her education became a Psychiatric Nurse. She was an active member of the Alpha Iota Sorority for 80 years holding various positions and was president many times. Mom as a homemaker spent numerous years as a volunteer for PTA, Brownies and Girl Guides. Summer vacations for 40 years were spent in Osoyoos where they kept in contact with many friends that they met over the years from Western Canada.

One of Mom’s favorite pastimes was spending time and moments with her precious grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was known for her wonderful cooking/baking and favorite of all Nanaimo bars and her beautiful knitting, sewing, crocheting and tatting.

At her request, there will not be a service. Cremation has taken place. As per our Parent’s wishes their spreading of ashes together will take place at a later date in Osoyoos.
