Born on January 17, 1937, in Saint Quentin New Brunswick. Georgette was always proud of her French-Canadian heritage. After High school Georgette taught in rural schools in northern New Brunswick and Moise, Quebec. At a New Years dance in 1957 at the RCAF Station in Moise, Quebec, she met Yvo, her lifelong dance partner.
For the next 65 years they danced across Canada and Europe, building their life and family together while Yvo completed his 25 years in the RCAF.
Georgette did not “work” outside the home but left a legacy of service by volunteering in the parishes and communities where they lived. She raised her children and was an integral part in the lives of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Georgette is lovingly remembered by her children: Lise Yvonne McAlpine (Ian), Karl DeBoer (Dawne) and Marlene DeBoer (Dave Page); her grandchildren: Nicky McFadden (Rory), Ashley Irvine (Daryl), Aaron Duerksen, Alana Coral (Miguel), Melanie DeBoer; Great Grandchildren: Nora Irvine, Adele Irvine, Ailish McFadden and Isaac Coral.
“In lieu of flowers, family request donations to the cancer Society.
Mom generally did not like dark colours so in honour of her, we encourage people to wear some pink as this was one of her favourite colours. The colour pink is also connected with cancer specifically breast cancer so this is a way of us not only to honour mom, but to honour the many family members who have passed because of cancer.”
